Dog Day Afternoon

Sunday, Jan.25th, Patrick,Baby Rocket Dog, Hootie and I went to our first family meetup with Dales and Friends at Tempe Town Lake. There was a PetSmart Charities extravaganza going on for homeless dogs with 2 races: a 5K and a 1 mile. Lots of various dog rescue organizations were there and also many boothes with cool give-aways. Our pooches ate too many treats while there. Little Hootie got an upset stomach when we got home. Anyway, back to the meetup. Baby (& Hootie) got to meet Airedales Lucy & Charlie and Dudley & Lotta. Dudley was an Oorang Dale and was very large. Lotta was originally from Russia! Both were adopted from Airedale rescues. They were all very well behaved. Baby was kind of shy when we got to the Lake because there were a zillion different types of dogs there. I think it overwhelmed her. Hootie was Mr. Sociable, not at all rattled by the vast numbers of dogs. He just wanted to play with everyone. (And jump up, but we're working on that.) Hootie even got to meet another Welsh Terrier...He thought she was pretty! We also met a couple with two Lakeland Terriers and these were the first we had ever seen in person. They were so cute. Much smaller than Hootie who tips the scales at 22#. Patrick is the one holding both our dogs while I took the photos.

Oh wow, what a great day out. How exciting meeting other dales and a welshie. Our Lucy is overwhelmed when she is around lots of other dogs too.
Thanks for sharing the great pics.

oh how fun! there were a lot of dogs! I think you have very well behaved dogs, Chica would have been flipping out. I can not even take her to Petsmart. I really hate it, it is embarrassing! I should read some training books about it.

Noah,Willow,Tess & Lucy ~ Lucky for you Lucy, you don't have to go out to see other Airedales! I have to settle for the runt Hootie, a fake Dale. XO-BabyRocketDog

Molly & Taffy ~ Agreed. I'm feeling much better thank you. Smooches,Hootie

Michele ~ Good luck there.I love to read the books, but really there is nothing like an actual face to face class.Hootie 's class last Wed.was supposed to help us get him to stop pulling on the leash. Observe the last picture...we're still trying!

Suz ~ Family fun. That's what we're all about. ha ha

Shelley ~ So many dogs. You would have loved it.

Oh I have Airedale envy.

My Amy dog would love to go to something like that! I know she still misses her Airedale friend Annie.
The Chihuhuas are way too anti- social.

Jen ~ Amy can come visit us.I've always loved poodles too.In fact I had Gigi for 10 years before she was killed. It was right b4 Jessica was born & my ex-father-in-law was watching her.Threw the ball & it rolled into the street. He was SO afraid to tell me,as he knew I loved her so.I had her cremated & only recently disposed of her ashes.:.(

Looks like a 'dog show'--since all of the dogs are gorgeous... (I love to watch the dog shows on TV.)

I'm sure you and the family, including the furry ones, had a wonderful day. How NEAT!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Hootie...

Lacie here...now Hootie...(Lacie smiles patiently...) I know you would like to date, but you well, haven't come of age yet...ie YOU'RE STILL A PUP!!!

I'm thinking that it might be better to go out as a group...like to a movie with your sissy along as a chaperone...

I have, ahem, rather a large amount of followers...but no dog in particular....

I do have somewhat of a reputation of um SNAPPING...which is mostly erroneous...(is that spelled correctly...I'm lousy at Scrabble...)

Hmm...I have an idea...why don't you pop on over to Axel's blog and help us girls out with the nursing duties...Agatha, Asta Up Over and Down Under, Snickers, Koobie and Toffee are all helpin' Axel's mom gain some weight after her illness...why don't you and Cassie stop by and you both can hang out with us when we're off duty??

Run this past ur sissy, Kay???

Love and kisses...Laciegirl

Lacie ~ You can't discourage me.I still love you! XXX-Hootie

Lacie ~ Thx for tipping me off on that lil rascal Hootie. We say he is very strong-willed.

Daisy ~ Thx,but I'm just not a very good photographer. In hind sight I think if I had gotten down on one knee I could have gotten much better pics. Most make the dogs look like they have gigantic heads!

Maggie & Mitch ~ Oooo, Barktoberfest sounds fun!Beer and hot dogs...(really hot dogs,not the kind bi-peds munch.)Smooches from pooches,BabyRocketDog & Hootie

Amber-Mae ~ Thx for coming by.We love visitors. We just went over to your blog & left some messages. You are a beautiful pooch!XO-BabyRocketDog & Hootie

John ~ Thanks.Hootie really needs more training though. We got him a new collar called gentle leader last night at his puppy class. We'll see if that helps with his pulling on the leash. He did good with his sit and down, but the loose leash walking was a nightmere.
