A - Z on Mondays ~ The Letter C

Here is a 2 for 1 A-Z Monday. My "C" words for today are candles and ceramic. The candles just happened to be there in the picture. That blue crock filled with white candles is one of my attempts at decorating. Yes, I know, I am pretty simple. The ceramic angel was a Christmas gift made for me by my son, Ted, in 1989. He graduated from South Mountain High School for the Arts and he was an award winning ceramist. Some of his works were displayed at the Sky Harbor Intl. Airport, Sheamer Museum, Phoenix Art Museum and a national traveling art display. This angel, however, was not in his usual style, which was quite abstract. He had asked me what I would like for Christmas and I said,"I'd love to have an angel for over the fireplace." Since I knew his usual ceramic works were "ooo-men" I thought he probably wouldn't make me something as conventional as an angel. (Also, he kind of pooh poohed my suggestion.) As you can imagine, I was so surprised and pleased with this ceramic angel. It's definitely a one of a kind!

Here are a couple more of Ted's ceramic works:

Cassie, Ted is a talented young man!!! I know you are proud of him. I love the ceramic angel. It would look nice as part of my Christmas Angel Collection...

Thanks for your "C" word..
Hugs,
Betsy

Cassie, I love the angel made by your son. He is quite the artist! It is even more special, of course, because it is something he made especially for you. Wonderful "C" word today. :D

Betsy ~ Ha ha---broad hint? Of course I would never part with that angel, but I'll keep my eye out for something special for you.

Daisy ~ Thx. Ted hasn't done any of his art in many years now.I often wonder if he misses it since working for the sheriff's dept is so different.

Michele ~ Yes, Cool!

Shelley & Danielle ~ Teddy was my darling boy.We haven't spoken in over 2 years now,and I sure do miss him.It seems everyone has a certain amount of sadness in their life.

Jen ~ he he.I guess we know about the same amount of Spanish.

Dorothy ~ Yes. The big piece with the men hanging upside down is entitled "Eden" and is very edgy. His ooo-men collection was really weird. Some of his stuff was too far out for my taste, but the few pieces I have were ones I liked. When we had our big house in central Phoenix we had a 10 foot totem that he made in our back yard. It was very colorful and VERY unique. It's in his in-laws yard now I think.

Ben ~ Ha ha. Glad to be of educational service!

Rosemarie ~ Thanks.Artists run in my family. So do starving people. Oh I crack myself up.

Hi Cassie, Hootie and Baby Rocket Dog,
Wow your son Cassie sure is talented. It must be so nice having his work around your house.

Oh the food from your last post looks great. It's hard to find really decent authentic Mexican food in Australia though it's slowly getting better.
