A - Z Monday ~ The Letter B

Butter.
Not just any butter. Imported Butter.
Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter.
This is my butter.
I know I'm a bit over weight and shouldn't have any kind of relationship with this rich, tasty mixture of butterfat, water and milk proteins. But I LOVE this butter. I remember when I was a little kid my father used to sneak a bite of butter with a fork! Now I understand where Daddy was coming from. No kidding, I could eat this stuff with a fork. Do I?? I'll never tell. Okay, enough said.

Last week I got 2 terrific recipes from fellow A to Z-ers. Patrick said to thank Margaret for her absolute favorite lunch recipe...He loved it and there are 4 more bowls in the freezer for work! And Dorothy gave us Applebee's blondies recipe. Haven't tried it yet, but I will 'cuz they are one of my favorite deserts. For more A - Z Mondays check out Jen's blog. You'll be glad you did!

Hope your week is starting out good. Blessings to all who read this.
love, Cassie

It's A - Z Monday Again! We're Foodies Now!!

Yippee! It's A - Z Monday and we're doing foods this time around. Thanks Jen for starting us up again. I, for one, have missed my A, B, C's!!
A is for ARTICHOKE. Boy, do we love artichokes in our home. You can steam them with a bit of olive oil drizzled on them. You can eat them on top of pizza. You can stuff their little folds with bread crumbs flavored with basil, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. We always like to serve them with drawn butter for the optimum numbers of calories. Ha!

We like the ones in the jar as well as fresh ones. If fact, we just had some in our Incredible Savory Egg Pie yesterday for brunch. That was soooo delicious. The Egg Pie is blog friend Caroline's recipe and I'll share it with you all when we get to the letter E. Bet you can't wait! For artichoke health & nutrition facts just click here.

Now let's all go on over to Jen's sidebar to see what's cookin' on the other A - Z folk's blogs! Happy Monday to you!

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ #88 ~ #3 for me!

This top photo is my shadow shot. It was taken inside a Meadowlark log home built by the Amish in Libby, Montana. They use this log home as their headquarters. Whenever I go there I stop in so I can relax on one of the willow rockers and enjoy the view.
This is an outside shot of the Meadowlark Headquarters. An Amish teenager did the stonework steps!!
Farm to Market Store is one of my favorite places to get groceries --- and goodies. The Amish ladies always have fresh, delicious pastries, cookies and breads for sale here and I never go home without at least a couple different kinds. Yum.
This is my goofy husband, Patrick, at our own Meadowlark log cabin. If you look closely you can see our Welsh Terrier, Hootie, looking out the bay window.

Wow, this is my third SSS. I hope to visit as many of the other participants as I can today (Saturday here in Arizona) and tomorrow. There are some really great photographers out there. If you would like to see more, please go visit Hey Harriet. Happy Shadow Shot Sunday!! love, Cassie

Happy Birthday Teddy!!

Top photo is My Daddy, moi(!) and Little Teddy. Below is Sgt. Ted of the Sheriff's Dept.
Today is my son's 39th birthday. He was always a good boy and he grew into a good man. I made my share of mistakes as a young mother, raising him, but he has turned out to be a responsible husband and father and good bread winner. Ted's a Sergent for the Sheriff's Department, but before becoming a civil servant he was an accomplished ceramic artist. Wayyyy before that he was an adorable, sweet little boy who loved this song:
Happy Birthday Teddy! I love you and miss you. XO-Mom

Idaho Winter Wonderland

I have these fresh snow pics taken on January 1st, 2010. Or for those who are as enraptured by numbers as I am: 01-01-10! This was the day before we left our beloved farrr N. Idaho cabin. That's Patrick clearing a fresh path. I just love new snow! Here in Phoenix I have to watch Patrick shovel sunshine. The weather has been quite lovely.

By the way, I've just joined a new blog called Friday Foto. Buddy Jen told me about it. The theme for this month is NEW. I just sent a pic over to Dee, but it probably won't be posted since it is late on Friday night already. Please check out her blog and maybe join in the fun.

Have a good weekend.
love, Cassie
PS- UPDATE: I was a day late, but did get my first photo posted to Friday Foto. I'm so excited. A fun new meme!

Superior Scribbler Award

I would like to thank my friend, Lynn, at Rocky Creek Scotties for passing The Superior Scribbler Award to me. Thanks for the honor Lynn. I haven't gotten an award in ages!

She gave me this award and well, now that I'm posting it, I want to also ask anyone who reads my blog to go over to visit Lynn and read her post of January 13th about the earthquake in Haiti. She says everything I would like to say, only better.

Now, here are the rules for the award: Each Superior Scribbler must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most deserving Bloggy Friends. (There are so many blogs I love to follow that this is a difficult task.)

Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author and the name of the blog from whom she/he has received The Award. Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on her/his blog, and link to This Post, which explains The Award. Each Blogger who wins The Superior Scribbler Award must visit This Postand add her/his name to the Mr Linky List. That way,we'll be able to keep up-to-date on everyone who receives This Prestigious Honor! Since there are in excess of 1300 winners,we expect most of you have already received it. If you have, please accept it again. Today I pass the award to (in alphabetical order):

Asta's World ~ This blog is written from a Wire Haired Fox Terrier's point of view. As she words it: "a life consulting company specializing in canine and human angst". Asta has a way with words and because her 'mommy' is an accomplished artist her blog is always filled with amazing visuals.

Beyond Grace ~ It's hard to say exactly what Dawn's blog is about, because she not only tells of everyday happenings, but of deep feelings that tear at my heart. I'm waayyyy older than she is, but we are sisters in Christ, so I can really relate to her. ANd, I (generally) love the music that accompanies her posts!

Building A Log Cabin ~ This was the very first blog I ever read and is chocked full of gorgeous photographs! Shelley and her husband built their own cabin and Shelley's blog was mentioned in Log Cabin Living Magazine a few years ago. LCL has been one of my favorite mags for years...way before we ever built our log cabin! Anyway, after becoming a fan of Shelley's blog I decided to stop 'blog stalking' and start a blog of my own & the rest, as they say, is history.

Day By Day With Suz ~ Suz has a sharp wit and passes on some of the funniest family stories I've ever heard. Her hubby, teenage girls and Boxers usually tie into her stories somewhere. Some day we plan on opening up a comedy club together!

Going Gently ~ I do not even know how I stumbled upon John's blog a year ago, but I quickly became addicted to this Welsh nurse/gentleman farmer's stories of chickens, ducks, pigs and Welsh Terriers. Seems that John always has his plate full and often I'm tired after just reading about his work day!

So friends, those are my 5 choices for the Superior Scribbler Award. I hope you will check out each of these blogs and see why I enjoy them so much. They're all different, and all delightful!

Happy Thursday!
love,Cassie

Arizona Sunsets Can Make Me Cry...

This was the view that faced us on the final leg of our journey to Phoenix, Arizona last night. How can I stay upset (for having to come back) for long when such a sunset greets me? Now the traffic that we started to encounter an hour before we arrived is another story!
All the photos were taken out the window of our car and the top 3 were with my "sunset" camera setting. I'm surprised they turned out as good as they did. Remember, I'm not a photographer! Oh, and I got to talk to my grandson, Leslie, yesterday on his 11th birthday. He sounded so good.
