Bought this fellow at the Log Cabin Inn Gift Shop. It is the coolest little shop and the Inn is really nice too. This is the first year Pat & I didn't get a chance to spend a night there. Maybe I'll get 2 nights when we return!
Moose in plaid pants & fishing. Could it get much better than this?
Since our place in farrrr N. Idaho is named Smiling Moose Point I decided to share some moosey photos and news with you. It seems there was a young male moose running around the neighborhood in N. Spokane, Washington last Thursday. This moose somehow fell through the window well of a home and had to be tranquilized to get it out of the basement. Can you imagine hearing a crash and then discovering a moose in your basement?!
Click the following to access the KXLY News/CNN link: Moose on the loose* There might be a short commercial before the actual news story, so sit tight.
Here are a few more photos I took of one of the mama moose (& her twins) on our property. I wish I were a better photographer, because they were really pretty amazing to see up so close.
This pic was taken through the screen on our mudroom window.
This one I took from our south deck. Unfortunately they are in the shadows. Here she is leaving the area...the twins are always several feet behind her.
And finally no picture show is complete without a few pictures of Baby Rocket Dog & Hootie. These were both snapped by Patrick's gamecam in our woods. Funny how it only got their fuzzy butts retreating. What were they up to? For more cute fuzzy butt pics visit my new friends Maggie & Mitch at http://www.northfordmaggie.blogspot.com/ !
Tomorrow is the start of A - Z Mondays implemented by our friend Jen at http://www.unglazed.blogspot.com/ so be ready for my first photo of "A". Wonder who or what that will be? Blessings on all who pass this way. love, Cassie

Oh my gosh! Well, that would be something to deal with, wouldn't it?!! I think after hearing about this that I am glad I don't live in an area where moose are running around all the time. YIKES!
They truly are amazing creatures. I can only imagine having one crash into my basement. But, oh what I wouldn't give to live where they could wonder onto my property! Thanks for sharing your pictures! ;)
Wow---you all do live in a gorgeous area of the country. So the moose wander around like the deer do here. WOW---hope they don't decide to pay you a visit INSIDE your home!!!!
Love your Christmas moose collection. NEAT!!! I added you to my 'list'--so I hope you'll add me too.
Hugs,
Betsy
I love the Butt Shots!! :D
You will understand when you see my letter A post. LOL
moose are my very favorite! LOVED this post! the twins are amazing... I am jealous you were so close!
They really are amazing ... and BIG! It's always a thrill to see them (unless they are on the highway!).
Mom is loving your fuzzbutts! hehehe
Wow! We've never seen a real moose in person! Mom calls Mitch a moose!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
I've always wanted to see a moose so I enjoyed your photos! ours are only in the upper peninsula of Michigan or Isle Royale. HOping to go up there to find some to photograph!
Glad ya'all liked the moose (& butt shots).Diana is right about moose on the highway. It is so sad to see them dead along the road, but even worse when they wander out on the road and cause an accident. In Alaska 500-1000 moose are killed each year on the road & RR tracks. The numbers are higher the more snowfall there is.Apparently they prefer to travel on cleared areas as opposed to deep snow.
Butchy & Snickers ~ So nice to have you come by.We just visited your blog and love to see photos of more lovely terriers like ourselves! Hootie has never met a cat,but I used to LOVE to play with Chuckie the Persian b4 he was banished to some far off place. Sloppy kisses, BabyRocketDog
Moose are great animals. You have a beautiful home and views as well. We have seen a few in Montana but never by our house!!!!
Sean ~ Thanks. In 1995 we saw our first moose (ever) at Fish Lake outside of Whitefish,MT. He even had a rack,so it was very exciting. Didn't catch any fish that trip, but it was worth it just to see that young bull.
