Porkopolis
Where in the world is Porkopolis? No, it's not in a comic book; it's actually in Ohio. Cincinnati was once called Porkopolis for being the first and biggest pork producer.
~ taken from Trader Joe's Culinary Compendium Vol.#2, 2009
What made you think of this? Well..do you know I lived in Porkopolis before I moved across the river? and my husband worked at one of the oldest slaughter houses there. (but he worked in the lab, he didn't slaughter pigs.) Cincinnati is still into the pig thing too. The flying pig is all over the place...
I know this is off-topic, but found it very interesting that you were into scuba diving at one point. I was too. I subsequently gave it up because the water quality around here is not that great for diving. But I really liked it at the time. Anything related to water I generally like, especially rowing!
HA! Well that was an interesting little tidbit to store away into my brain. I like the photo of the snout sticking through the fence. Hope you have a great weekend, Cassie! :D
Ooops, I did it again. Used the dogs blog. Okay, back to responses.
Karen ~ Oh I'm full of all sorts of useless information!
John P ~ Oinking is absolutely in keeping with the spirit of this post! Hey, off topic is okay too!Oh I LOVED SCUBA when I was in my twenties and early 30's, but then I got out of it and into skiing for a time. Have often thought about doing it again, but I'm twice the person I once was (in size!!) so I think it will have to stay in my past.I totally loved the sea creatures in Mexico and CA.---but lake diving in AZ was the pits. Had to do that for advanced certification.
Daisy ~ I thought you'd like that! We had 2 fun guests Sunday. I'll give you a hint. They own a log cabin too.
John G ~ Your girls are not banal! They are cute little chubbers!
Laciegirl ~ You better be careful, you just got over being sick to your tummy. No bacon for you!
