"Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God."
Romans 5:1-2
Okay, yes,it is real. My Daddy was a hunter and went on a few safaris in Mozambique. I was a strict vegitarian at the time of his first one in 1971 and I was also pregnant with my son,so they kept it a secret from me until he had left the states.(I know, weird family.)He bagged all of the major big game animals & it was a fullfillment of a dream of his. He later went on another with my brother,a macho thing I guess. He looked so handsome in his safari gear...very Papa Hemingway. He gave my sister & I each an elephant foot and zebra skin.My mother has the 2 sets of tusks and all the other beasts. I at first was repelled by this, but couldn't have stopped it,and he had all the licenses legally,so I lug an elephant foot every place I move to.My son has the zebra skin.
i love elephants... the whole of them though, not just their feet!! but i understand :) i bet you are the only one who chooses elephant foot for a to z!!!
thanks for the very sweet comment about my son... not only does his gentleness shine through his eyes... his heart is as big as the sun :)
Hi Cassie, Once I saw your photo on your blog, I remember visiting with you back before Christmas. I will add you as a favorite - I love your blog and recognize most of your followers. Congrats on the 100th post.
Now I'm going to apologize for the elephant foot. I'm so used to it after over 35yrs...I guess it is kind of gross. I might have subconsiously been making up for having it by being a volunteer at the Phoenix Zoo & helping to raise money for the elephant's new enclosure.---Cassie Yeah, that's kind of scarey. What next? Birdie feet? We promise Mom's "F" word won't be Flamingo Foot. The Dogs,BabyRD & Hootie
Maggie & Mitch ~ In my weirdo family it's pretty common, since big game hunting was done by father & brother.Oddly, none of our pets have ever tried to destroy the "footstools"!!
Daisy ~ Oh how sad - no dancing. This poor fella was parceled out in many parts. The different villages came running to take home the meat to eat.Daddy had the tusks, feet, ears and tail taxidermed. It really is aweful, but like I said, I had nothing to do with the original killing. :>(
