Finally I Found a letter I can call my Favorite ‘cuz I know several F words that tickle my Fancy!
On Saturday I carried 100 pieces of Firewood from our woodshed to our deck. Phew was I aching after that. Our highs have been in the 30’s (F) so I usually have a Fire going at night. My Fireplace is a BIS (from Canada) and is very efficient.
I might have mentioned this before. I love Fire. I’m the expert Fire-starter at our cabin. I know the best way to “build” the kindling to have a perfect Fire every time. Not bragging Folks, just stating the Facts! To build a Fire I like to use a stick or two of Fatwood. Fatwood is the wood from tree stumps that has concentrated sap, so ignites pronto. I usually buy mine from L.L.Bean. I also always make sure to have a charged Fire extinguisher near the Fireplace. That’s prudent, even though I’ve never needed to use one. We also keep a Bible on our Fireplace hearth…God’s word is also a Fire extinguisher of sorts, if you get my meaning here. Anywhooo, we also have these cool little green sticks that when put in a Fire they make the prettiest colors. They have some chemical on them (that Friends will probably Find out was the eventual cause of our croaking!!). Along with the Fotos of all my F words I’m also showing one of my ceramic Fireplace door. Now, I really do love to clean out the ashes each day, but cleaning the door is a real pain in the butt. I have this spray stuff called Stove and Hearth Cleaner that is a help, but sometimes that black stuff is so baked on I need to really to use a powerful arm. You can’t use anything abrasive on it, due to the type of ceramic glass. Well, you get the picture…I do the door about every Five days of burning.
Okay, enough about my Fire related chores. For more A to Z bloggers let your Fingers do the walking on over to Jen’s blog. Have a good week friends!
love, Cassie

I think you may be the First one to get their "F" post up this week, Cassie! I better start thinking of something. I haven't even chosen a word yet! There's nothing quite like a roaring fire in the fireplace to make a house feel cozy. It sounds like you have building your fires down to a science. :D
Mmmm, heat AND light - a winning combination!
I love fireplaces that burn real wood! We had one at home for the first 17 years of my life. I like to poke them and make them burn better! I like to sit by them and warm myself. And I didn't really mind the chore of bringing in the fire wood. A nice choice for the letter F!
Very nice! Both the words and the photos.
This is great Cassie. I love a nice fire too, but have NO reason to start one here. :) But if it ever gets below 60, well I wish for a fire place!
Love that bible, it is gorgeous!!!!
Take care
Suz
similar to our fire...lovely......
the fire extinguisher is a practical touch!!!
Such great representations of the letter F. I love that you are the expert fire-starter!
I hope you have a TERRIFIC week!
Great "F" word, Cassie. I too love fires in the fireplace.. (Ours is a regular fireplace.) We have a huge woodpile--and my sweet hubby brings firewood to the garage to keep it dry.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Betsy
And I couldn't help but notice that little tartan tube (being a Scottish aficionado) What does it contain? - firestarters (matches)?
Have a Fantastic day.

Happy Monday Cassie!
Great F post. We love a roaring fire too. Our place in Tucson has a fire place, so I'm sure we will pretend we are having a white Christmas and light it up during Christmas while we're there. ;)
Cassie, what a wonderful post. I love fireplaces. I remember some type of crystals we put in the fireplace when I was young that made the pretty colors. One year we stuck the crystals on to pinecones to throw in the fire. I know your home must be so cozy. That is a beautiful Bible. Wishing you two a wonderful week.
it's been warm around here, but you've gotten me thinkin' it's about time we stoke up a fire in the ol' woodburner here in our fireplace! Always makes the place seem cozy!
I love a good fire too. Nothing like that smell and the crackle. Congratulations on getting all that wood up to your house. That looks like it was a big job!
