A to Z Monday ~ The Edible Letter G

Garlic on our dining room table.

My kitchen window at the cabin. This composition titled: Garlina, Rose and Trout.

I also use garlic powder in my cooking. Trader Joe's California is my favorite.

The only garlic left in our house right now. Partially used...of course!

The letter G could only be represented by one thing for me: GARLIC!!!

We L-O-V-E garlic at our house. Just about anything that can have garlic in it, does. At our farmer's market towards the end of the summer we can get the most wonderful part of the garlic plant, the bulbil. Bulbils are these yummy tiny garlic bits (we call them nubins!) that we keep in a small bowl and are constantly munching on. Yup, we have lovely garlic breath most of the time. he he.

When we go to British Columbia we have to go to our garlic restaurant, The Outer Clove. In San Francisco it would have to be The Stinking Rose. We are just plain garlic aficionados. If I was at the cabin I'd take some more pictures of my garlic paraphernalia:a long garlic braid, a garlic trivet and a garlic bud vase. The second photo here has my dear little Garlina (in the lower left hand corner) whom I have taken from one home to another for well over 20 years. Since she is up in N.Idaho I can't take a picture to show you her 'backside' but from the back she just looks like a head of garlic. (I usually let her watch me cook!) Anyway, I don't think there is much that doesn't taste great with the stinking rose!

Have a wonderful week and like my friend, Dorothy, make sure to remember something to be thankful for each day. Blessings on the head to all who pass this way.

love, Cassie

And my favorite way to eat garlic is to chop it up really fine and mix it with some softened Kerrygold Butter and slather it on a hot piece of homemade bread fresh from the oven - it doesn't get any better that this, my friend.

Lynn's right - fresh, hot garlic bread is the BEST.

Hi Cassie, You and Pat must be really healthy, because Garlic is really good for you!!! Very nice post, and thanks for the plug! The one line of thanks is something that Darla started. I always have lots to be thankful for.

I would take Garlina with me, too. She's precious.

I never really had garlic until I got married. My mother couldn't tolerate it. Now(because of my garlic fiend husband) I have it just about every day!

Great post! Hope you have a good Monday.

Garlic can't cook without it....

Happy Monday Cassie
We use garlic too--problem is my husband is one of those that eats it and you know it. It comes right out of his pores.

Happy 2nd blogaversary Cassie!

We all love garlic here! My Grandad died just two months before his 99th birthday and ate several cloves of raw garlic every day - which he firmly believed kept him so healthy!

I must email you my braised garlic chicken recipe which has about 40 cloves of garlic in it! Anytime I think there is a threat of a cold in the house - it gets cooked!

take care

We love garlic too Cassie.
If you were here right now, you could smell it in the oven...mixed with some chicken and chopped all over my roasting veggies. Mmmmmmm!
Happy Monday!

I like garlic in moderation. My father in law used to eat it until I swear it came out of his pores. And it is good for you. "Garlina, Rose and Trout" - sounds like a law firm!

Oh Cassie...I just went to that site um the "unmentionable" one you linked to on Baby's bloggie...

I have never thought of Scruffy in the "Waste Management" service until now...as for the cat comments...that was hilarious...I do think the cat people are rather on target...Scruffy is a um "special" dog...definitely one crayon short of a box...

He and Lacie are paper trained plus they go outside too...that darn dog waits until I go upstairs for one minute and he runs out to the papers, makes his deposit and the rest is history...oh, he sooooooo knows...

Happy Blogaversary!!!!

Love, Marilyn

I have to agree that garlic is wonderful!

Garlic fans here too. We probably have garlic breath --- not that we'd notice because we ALL have it here.

We've never been bothered by vampires either --- the garlic is working.

Happy 2nd Blogaversary! I adore garlic, use it in everything, well nearly everything!

I sometimes use a garlic paste when I am feeling lazy.

Garlic makes a good recipe, fandabidozi, as we say here in Scotland!

garlic powder

thats a new one on me!!!! is it just dried garlic?

Cassie said...

Holy Guacamole John! You never heard of garlic powder?? Wales must be like another planet!! All fresh veggies and NO garlic powder!! Amazing. Now that I've calmed down: Yes, it's dried garlic about the consistency of salt.

Don't know how I missed this...but Garlic is the best G food ever. I put it in most everything. My kids make fun of me and my son gave me a can of garlic scented room spray for Christmas one year. NO KIDDING! I didn't like it.
