Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Mr. & Mrs. Mallard (for now!)

This lovely couple of Mallard ducks is on one of the canal banks in Phoenix. They will remain a couple until the female lays her eggs, then he will desert her. What a cad!! The Mallard Duck is the ancestor of all domesticated ducks.

When I took these photos I was trying to capture the shadow shot. I think it is interesting the way the shadow also transferred to the reflection.

Love the Mallards -- well, Mr Mallard is a cad, but that's often the way of the good looking guy! Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy SSS to you Cassie.
I'm glad I didn't marry a duck. ;) Nice shot.

Just like a male of any species! But at least they are in domestic bliss under y=the warm Arizona sun. They look at peace on the concrete banks, no need to work under a blazing sky, anyway...

What a great capture Cassie.
I cant believe he is such a cad. I will never ever look at mallard males the same way again. We should call them "Tiger"
:)

Oh what a cad indeed! I just hope the girl duck will then fall for another cute boy duck who is more worthy of her affection :)

That's a lovely shot!

My shot wasn't of some whacky cool pod thingie but just a dried up old leaf I'm afraid!

Have yourself a super week!

What a cute shot..I enjoy seeing ducks around and you were lucky to get this nice picture.. Once I had a couple of Mallards in my back yard. Our yard flooded after winter and there they were. Sad, I didn't have a camera then.
Happy SSS.

In grade school I did a report on Mallards...I was always put off that the male ducks were prettier than the females - so, two strikes against Mr. Mallard!!
Have a nice week Cassie!

Mirror images, shadows, reflections - what a capture! Perhaps she's better off without him.

Didn't know that about mallard dads - still, they make a great couple for your wonderful picture.
