Shadow Shot Sunday ~ The Phoenix Zoo ~ SSS#21

logThese are some Shadow Shots I took last March at the Phoenix Zoo. The symbol for Phoenix is the Firebird, aka the Flamingo. They were just starting to build their nests when I took these photos. That Peacock just cast such a cool shadow, I had to put him in this post too. I guess this SSS post of mine is "for the birds"!!

It is nice to see pink flamingos that are real, not plastic. These are attractive with nice reflections. The peacock is a beauty even when not showing off. In thus case, the shadow follows the form - but is not nearly as attractive in shadow gray instead of peacock blue...

NICE shadows this week, Cassie. I was fascinated to learn that flamingos are white, turning pink from the dye in the shellfish that they ingest. Cool stuff!

Hi Cassie,
These are good shadow shots, and the ones of the flamingos would work on Weekend Reflections, too.
Hope you are enjoying summer now that it's here!

Can you believe a lot of people in our area have peacocks as pets???
they are beautiful, but make the most outrageous racket!

I didn't know that flamingos were also known as the Firebird! I'm always learning cool stuff from my fellow shadow shootin' buddies! That peacock shadow is awesome! Enjoy the rest of your weekend Cassie :)

I was clueless to the flamingo as the Firebird too...I used to have pet peacocks...fun, but poop everywhere, but their tail feathers dropping all over the yard was treasure hunting!

Yuk, yuk! For the birds...
I love the shots, though! Flamingos always bring a smile to my face and they never seem real even in real life. And then, images of using them to play croquet with (from "Alice")...

Just look at those flamingos! What fun....
I don't think that we have flamingos at our zoo here. We do have flamingo grams...where people use them a fundraisers. People pay so much to put 30 or so plastic flamingos in someone's yard to wish them a happy birthday, etc....it's funny, but everyone cringes to think it could be them next - ha!!
