A to Z Monday ~ The Letter O

The letter for this week is O. This was a really easy one for me, as one of my two favorite foods in the whole world is OATMEAL. Yes, the humble oat in the form of meal has been a favorite of mine since I was a little kiddo. After my surgeries as a child when I was finally taken off of a liquid diet and put on semi-soft foods my first two requests were oatmeal and Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup. I love all kinds of oatmeal...but never slimy! Only in the past few years have I been introduced to John McCann's steel cut oatmeal and now it's my new favorite. I usually make up a bunch of it, then freeze some for an easy breakfast. I really like oatmeal. Heck, I even like that instant oatmeal in the bag (maple & brown sugar). Yum!
Another O that is popular at our house is olive oil. I use it for most of my cooking. I love the nutty flavor that it gives food. It's supposed to be good for us too, so that doesn't hurt any either!
Why don't you click here to get on over to Jen's blog to see other A - Z foodsters?! Have a happy Monday all!!
love, Cassie

Hi Cassie,
Before you microwave it, add a blob of crunchy peanut butter and enjoy!

Happy Monday Cassie!
We've gone Olive Oil too.
I've purchased regular, virgin and extra virgin --- it's like standing at the gas pump; which is really better?

Good morning, Cassie! Olive oil is supposed to be a healthier choice for your heart, and oatmeal is too! I'm a big fan of oats as well. Happy Monday to you! :)

I love both of your O's too.
Nothing better for sticking to your insides as oatmeal is.

I saw that oatmeal in the can and was wondering if there was enough difference in the taste to warrannt buying it.

The older I get, the more I like oatmeal. I've seen that can of oatmeal in my grocery store, but have never tried it. I'm tempted to buy it and use Dorothy's hint of P.B. Both sound delish!

Olive oil is a staple in my house, too. Have you seen the mayo they sell with olive oil now? Less fat and good!
Happy Monday

Well, I second that emotion - regarding oatmeal and olive oil. Great minds (and stomachs?) think alike!

I love Oatmeal too...but just the plain kind with sugar...plain white sugar and plenty of it. Now I think I'll find me some John McCann's and try it.

I love oatmeal in the form of porridge (made with full milk, cream added and heaps of raw sugar!)... yeah, not very healthy, but oh-so-tasty! I'm a big fan of olive oil too! Not mixed with my porridge though ;)
