Yom HaShoah ~ יום השואה

This is in place of my usual A to Z Monday.

Genesis 12:3 -4 (NAS Bible) "And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

Monday was the Holocaust Day of Remembrance.

I don't remember ever seeing anything about this before....my youngest is doing a big project on the holocuast right now for school...she is bringing up things that she is learning that I don't recall ever even hearing before. IT is all so sad....it just breaks my heart that we have had people in our history (and STILL) that are so inhumane....just horrid.

It was all so sickening. And, like Suz said, there are still people today who are that inhumane.

I have never seen a memorial with shoes - very poetic. The holocaust is one of our worlds saddest moments.

Hi Cassie, Haven't seen you around in awhile---so decided to check in with you.

Holocaust was absolutely horrible.. We really don't know how bad it was--and sometimes, we don't seem to 'want' to know.

Hugs,
Betsy

I read so many books on the holocaust and it breaks my heart we had such evil back then. And I despise when I hear certain groups of people denying it ever happened.
May god bless those poor souls of the holocaust.

Hi Cassie,

Thanks for being so thoughtful and dedicating a posting to the Holocaust Day of Remembrance. Like most of the previous commenters, I likewise find it hard to understand why there is such cruelty in the world. But I take some solace in the fact that there are also very many good people, such as yourself and the folks visiting this blog.

Thank you for posting this in Remembrance. Tomorrow is ANZAC Day in Australia. I do not know where my son will be marching yet.

Moving post, Cassie. Those shoes look like they are waiting there for someone to return and wear them. Very sad, but is a good reminder to us of the horror of the Holocaust.
