A ~ Z Monday:The Letter D for DOG:The Coolest Airedale Video!

D is for DOG. I am totally cheating here, as I had posted this a bit early, and am just retooling it for A ~ Z Monday. Had to do this and I'll explain why after I tell you about the video. Oh also, for a list of others participating in A-Z Monday go on over to Jen's blog.

This Airedale, Ludwig, from Poland is amazing. I first saw this video on a Rubydale Times post and had to pass it on to you. While you're at it, why not go over and give Ruby (from Sydney, Australia) a G'day! She is in agility training herself. I'd love to find a place here where Baby & Hootie could get involved in that. And that my friends was a lot of DOG talk!

Now the rest of the DOG story. I never went to sleep last night. Up all night long (pain) so I decided to start a blog just for Baby Rocket Dog & Hootie, since they take up so much of this blog. I am going to try to sign them up with BFD (blogs for dogs) since the new blog will be from their point of view. That'll cut down on what I post here, but this way I won't be boring folks who are sick of hearing me go on about my "kids"! I'll try to keep this blog more about our log cabin and all things not dog. We'll see how that works out. The dog's new blog can be found at http://www.hootieandbabyrocketdog.blogspot.com/ and there is one meager post so far. I had a heck of a time setting it up. First I had it as Baby & Hootie but found my "About Me" transferred from this blog to that and I wanted it to be about their interests. So, I erased all the Cassie stuff and did a write up on the dogs & golly if it didn't then transfer over to here and make me sound like a dog! So I had to separate the two completely and by canceling out the 1st new blog I opened I ended up loosing the name I chose. What a mess. Anyway, there was probably a much easier way to do it but I'm still such a dunce about these things. Oh well. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Jess' Breakfast Casserole Recipe

This is a simple and hearty dish which I(Jessica) love to make for guests because there is little mess to clean, freeing up the rest of the morning to chat and relax. It also tastes great as left overs as well!

The following are my favorite ingredients but I often add or subtract other things such as spinach and meats depending on my mood and what I have on hand. If you want to go veg just skip the ham and add an extra layer of tomatoes. It's pretty much impossible to mess it up:

Bread (I use sourdough wheat)
Ham (Canadian or even the thick sliced kind for sandwiches is great)
Chives
Basil
Dried Rosemary
Tomatoes
Butter
Shredded Mozzarella
Chevre Goat Cheese (I prefer the herbed kind)
Eggs
Milk (I use rice milk)
Salt and Pepper to taste

I place chopped bread, ham, chives, basil, sliced tomatoes, and chevre next to the baking dish. I butter the dish and begin layering the ingredients: scatter the bread on the bottom, add a layer of cut up ham, layer of chevre chunks, sliced chives, and torn basil. I whisk together the milk and eggs and season with salt, pepper, and rosemary. I then pour the eggs over the dish. It always aggravates David that I don't know how many eggs I use but it just depends on how many layers of other foods I add and the size of the dish. Ideally, you should have enough eggs to just barely cover all the layers thus far. Like between 8-11 eggs? I top this with tomato slices and pop it in the oven. I bake it at 350 for 30 minutes. Then I sprinkle the casserole with shredded mozzarella, chives, and basil and cook for another ten minutes unitl it is puffy and golden.
